Initial Concepts/Sketches

Back to final piece

Concept1: Sandpaper markings

Pseudo chalk-like markings on a Sandpaper or grip tape like surface found on a skate board. Faded & worn with other surface (wood, metal or concrete) showing through. Maybe some bolts. Colors are warm, reds, oranges, and yellows, with small areas of contrasting cool color (blue/grey).

Concept2: Marked Essay "Needs Better Transitions"

Reversed paper background to black to put a twist on a commonly used visual theme. Handwriting is grey. Alternate title and artist name in corner - same color as blue lines.

Concept3: Floating Bridge/Steps

Abstract floating steps vanishing off into the distance or coming at you, however you want to look at it. As you can see I was playing with incorporating the title into one of the steps. I envision the background or "Sky" having some sort of fiber texture, or even using one of the photos you provided - faded in the background.

Concept4: Floating/Layerd Type

Mostly a typographical solution using the artist name and album title, twisting, zooming, and floating on top of each other. Colors are faded brown, yellow, grey (Sincerity) and a splash of brighter more cheery color (lighthearted).
